APS PRIZE

Writers perform for the title of Australian Poetry Slam Champion. At the National Final, the highest scoring Australian resident over 18 years of age is awarded a $20,000 Prize Pack.

An amazing Prize Pack has been created to accommodate any COVID-19 restrictions. The Prize (worth $20,000) includes:

  • Publication in audio, video and print
  • A bunch of paid gigs in the year following winning
  • Professional mentoring

These prizes provide priceless opportunities for publicity and professional development.

If you are under 18 and win the title of Australian Poetry Slam Champion, you will be eligible for a special Youth Prize. If you are not a resident of Australia and become the Australian Poetry Slam Champion, you will take home a cash prize.

The ultimate writers festival tour of Asia and Australia was awarded to the highest-scoring Australian resident over 18 years of age. In the year following their win, writers performed at Byron Writers Festival, Ubud Writers and Readers Festival, Singapore Writers Festival and Hong Kong International Literary Festival. Travel and accommodation expenses were covered and honorariums were provided.  

The Australian Poetry Slam Champion also received a two week artist residency with Bundanon Trust in New South Wales.
